Who you get
The people
on your build.
Six of them. Two founded the company in 1990, one is their son, and the other three have been here long enough to be named in Google reviews. There's no sales team. The person who quotes your house is the person who builds it.
Stewart Brain
Owner and builder
On the tools at seventeen. Founded Sabre with Cathy in 1990 and has more than thirty years as a carpenter and builder. He's the one who walks your block. Stewart competed in judo for Australia at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and took bronze at the 1986 Commonwealth Games, and later coached athletes to the 2012 and 2016 Games.
Cathy Brain
Owner and business manager
The backbone of the company. Cathy runs accounts, sales and employment. She represented Australia in judo at three Olympic Games, 1988, 1992 and 1996, and won bronze at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games. She and Stewart founded Ohori Judo Club together.
Nathan Brain
Carpenter
The middle Brain child and the second generation on the tools. Nathan came through his carpentry apprenticeship at Sabre and is on site through the build. Customers name him in their reviews.
Frank Doorly
Site supervisor
Seventeen years at Sabre. Frank runs the day-to-day of each build. One review puts it simply: he kept us informed all the way through.
Celene Van Bladeren
Accounts and operations
Client liaison, suppliers, scheduling and accounts. Celene is the person you'll speak to most between site visits.
Jacob Campbell
Estimator
The youngest on the team. Jacob works with Stewart and with you to keep the build lined up with what you need and what you can spend, and prices changes before they're made.
Why the judo matters
They built the company
and raised three kids at the same time.
Both Stewart and Cathy competed at the Olympics. They know what a long build does to a family's year, because they've run a family business through thirty-six of them.
Where most families start
A walk through your house with Nathan.
